Self guided walking over six days along the Rota Vicentina from Vila Nova de Milfontes on the coast to the rural São Luís via Odeceixe.
The package includes 7 nights bed and breakfast accommodation in family owned and managed guest houses, together with pic-nic lunches and optional airport transfers by taxi or minibus.

The best periods to undertake this tour are in the autumn from late September to early November and in the spring from early April until the end of June.
This package includes: 7 nights bed and breakfast, 6 simple packed lunches + 1.5 l of water each day, baggage transfers during tour, emergency support phone line, 4x4 emergency support vehicle, walk information pack, obligatory personal accident insurance.
We also provide detailed information about public transport to the region from Faro and Lisbon or a taxi/minibus transfer from either Faro or Lisbon airports can be arranged.
It excludes: flights, airport transfers (unless requested), travel insurance, dinners, other drinks, personal expenses and gratuities. Omissions or exclusions from this list does not infer that such items are included.
Day one: Arrival in the Alentejo. Overnighting in the picturesque seaside town of Vila Nova de Milfontes at a small hotel or guesthouse close to the castle. A welcome meeting will be held on your evening of arrival.
Day two: Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve. A 15 km (4½-5 hours) easy walk continuing on the Fishermen's Trail along the coast. You will spend the night at a delightful guest house situated just behind the sand dunes.
Day three: Almograve to Zambujeira do Mar. A 21km (6-7 hours) walk heading south from Almograve. You will spend the night at a small guest house close to the village centre.
Day four: Zambujeira do Mar to Odeceixe. An 18 km (5½-6 hours) walk along a coastal path to the Algarve village of Odeceixe. You will spend the night at a small guest house close to the village centre.
Day five: Odeceixe to São Teotónio. A 17 km (5½-6 hours) walk along some inhospitable but truly memorable trails from to the Algarve village of Odeceixe to the sleepy Alentejano town cf São Teotónio . The night will be spent in a small hotel on the edge of the town.
Day six: São Teotónio to Odemira. A 19km (6 hours) walk , for much of the route, the trail follows the River S. Teotonio and the River Mira along wide trails. The night will be spent at a family owned pension in the centre of Odemira.
Day seven: Odemira to São Luis. A 25 km (7-8 hours) walk known as the water section of the Historical Way, where there is an optional but recommended side trail to Pego da Pias pools. The night will be spent near the Alentejo village of São Luís at a rural guest house with use of swimming pool (in season), where you can relax on the terrace and take in the wonderful views of the “Alentejo Montado”.
Day eight: Departure from São Luís.
An optional extra night at Odeceixe, where you can undertake a 15km circular walk taking in the awarding winning beach, is recommended.
